I have had lots of enquiries about whether I am planning to do any workshops at Jewellery Maker, so I wanted to let people know that I will be doing two workshops this autumn. They are not available for booking yet, but Wendy, the workshop coordinator, is happy for me to give out the dates. She will keep a list of those who are interested.
The workshops will be an introduction to working with metal seed beads in kumihimo. They will be suitable for complete beginners, as well as those who have had a bit of braiding experience. I will start with the basics and try to address the most common difficulties, so even if you have done some kumihimo it might be a good chance to iron out any bad habits!
The picture shows what I proposing to teach, but at this stage it is possible that there might be some amendments, depending on stock availability and cost restrictions. I do not know what the cost will be, but the JM workshops always work out as good value because a chance to pick up bargains at the shop is included, as is a buffet lunch.
Kumihimo is quite time consuming and everyone works at their own pace, so not everyone will complete both bracelets. I always provide handouts for my workshops, so that everyone has all the information they need to finish off at home if necessary. I aim to give people the skills they need to create beaded kumihimo designs confidently on their own.
Here are the dates,
Saturday 10th October
Friday 20th November
If you are interested, either keep an eye on the workshop shedule on the Jewellery Maker website or give Wendy a ring on 0800 6444 655
P.S. Thanks to Norma Francis who pointed out that I got one of the dates wrong! They are correct now.
