This pattern produces a beautiful flat braid with one side being slightly rounded. An interesting chevron pattern runs down the centre. It works best with wider threads, yarns and ribbons. This braid can be very effectively embellished with beads after braiding. Beads can also be added while braiding, but only on some of the warps, so for a fully beaded look stick to Round Braid.
Set up the kumihimo disk with threads in slots 32 and1, 8 and 9, 16 and 17, 24 and 25.
Perform the following moves,
32 to 10, 1 to 23
17 to 7, 16 to 26
8 to 16, 25 to 17
9 to 1, 24 to 32
Return the threads to the starting positions and repeat until the braid is the required length.
Colour Placement
If you want to create a heart design position the colour for the hearts in slots 8 and 25.
If you want to have one colour in the middle and the other on the outside position one colour in slots 8, 16, 17 and 25 and the other colour in the remaining slots
Adding Beads
I do not recommend trying to add beads to this braid until you have mastered the technique for basic round braid. Check the Braiding with Beads instructions.
Beads can be added in the following moves
9 to 1 and 24 to 32
8 to 16 and 25 to 17
