This pattern creates a useful braid with a hollow core, through which wire can be threaded after braiding. The unusual point to notice about this braid is that the movement changes from clockwise to anti-clockwise in every round. Tension is important in this braid. After each set of moves pull gently on the braid from underneath the disk. This braid is not suitable for adding beads during the beading process.
Set up the kumihimo disk with threads in slots 32 and 1, 8 and 9, 16 and 17, 24 and 25.
Perform the following moves,
32 to 7, 8 to 15, 16 to 23, 24 to 32. The threads move in a clockwise direction around the kumihimo disk.
1 to 26, 25 to 18, 17 to 10, 9 to 1. The threads move in an anti-clockwise direction around the kumihimo disk.
Return the threads to the starting positions.
